when i was barely 18 i gave birth to a child, a girl, whom i was forced to give up for adoption.  this young woman searched for me for 20 years and finally found me, to my alternate fear and glee; an unsettling combination.  i spoke to renita concerning my trepidation at forming a bond with a daughter i had never spoken to nor seen, and her words were so sensible and constructive that she put me at my ease and enabled me to turn off the fear and move along with my relationship with my daughter, naimh.  we have since spent a weekend together, we will go to san diego for a conference  together in january   and are planning a girl-trip to new york for a three day weekend in the spring, and all is as it should be.  without renita’s wisdom and guidance, i might possibly have missed all this love and closeness…i might never have been amazed at how alike we are in speech patterns, habits and responses to different stimuli.  and i would have missed a lot of giggling….the best part of all.  thank you, renita!
